Clinton County Electronic Equipment Policy

  1. Purpose
    The purpose of this policy is to define rules and requirements for using Clinton County Electronic Equipment for County Business. These rules and requirements are designed to minimize the potential exposure to Clinton County from damages which may result from unauthorized use of Clinton County resources. Damages include the loss of sensitive or confidential data, damage to public image, damage to critical Clinton County internal systems, and fines or other financial liabilities incurred as a result of those losses.
  2. I understand the purpose of this policy.*
  3. Definitions
    Electronic Equipment – Includes, but is not limited to, laptop, micro-computer, tablet, keyboard, mouse, monitor or iPad
  4. Scope
    This policy applies to all Clinton County employees who have been provided Clinton County Equipment for Clinton County business.
  5. Policy
    •Prior to being issued Clinton County Electronic Equipment employees will sign the Electronic Equipment Policy Form and agree to all outlined policies. •Employees should NOT attempt to install software or hardware or change the system configuration including network settings. •Employees are expected to protect Electronic Equipment, equipment and accessories from damage and theft. •Employees will not be held responsible for computer problems resulting from regular work-related use; however, employees will be held personally responsible for any problems caused by their negligence as deemed by Clinton County. •Electronic Equipment must not be used or be in the possession of Non Clinton County Personnel. •Electronic Equipment must be turned into County IT personnel once per year when requested by IT. •No personal identifiable information is to be saved on this computer

  7. Requirements
    •User must be authorized to use the provided laptop from home by their Department Head. •If the user is not a department head the user must have departmental manager sign off. •User will use Dual Authentication. •Passwords will not be shared. •Non-Authorized users may not use VPN or County equipment.
  8. Non-Compliance
    An employee found to have violated this policy may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  9. General Electronic Equipment Rules
    You are responsible for protecting your Electronic Equipment from loss or theft and for protecting the information it contains. These rules are provided to assist in assuring that your Electronic Equipment is secure at all times. All conceivable situations cannot be covered in this document. Employees must realize that common sense should be your guide when faced with unusual or unforeseen situations.
  10. •Personal use of the Electronic Equipment and accessories is prohibited •Keep your Electronic Equipment close to you and in sight. Otherwise, keep it locked away securely. It only takes a moment for a thief to walk away with your Electronic Equipment. •Never store passwords with your Electronic Equipment or in its carrying case.•Other forms of user authentication should be kept separate from your Electronic Equipment at all times. •Electronic Equipment Users are prohibited from using Clinton County Electronic Equipment and networks to access the Internet for any reason other than Official County Business.

  12. Electronic Signature Agreement*
