When can an employee take FMLA?
It is the policy of the Employer to provide eligible employees with an unpaid family and medical leave of absence from work in the following circumstances:

- The birth of a child and in order to care for such a child
- An adoption of a child or to care for a foster child
- To care for a child, spouse, or parent who has a serious health condition
- Because of the employee's own serious health condition that renders the employee unable to perform the essential functions of his or her position
- Qualifying exigencies for eligible family of the National Guard or Reserves
- Special Military family leave for qualified service members
