On-Line Marriage License Application

  *A marriage license expires 33 days from the date of application. Do not apply if ceremony is more than 33 days from today. 
  1. Fill in all of the information for both applicants.
  2. Addresses listed on application should match current driver's license. Verification required in Clerks' Office. Michigan Residents apply in the county in which one applicant resides.  Marriage License may be used in any county in Michigan.  Out-of-State Residents apply in the Michigan County in which they will be married.
  3. Proof of Age required for both applicants. Present Birth Certificates at time of license pick up. Documents must be in English. 
  4. Social Security Numbers are required to be provided for both applicants at time of pick-up. Applicant without social security number must explain legal reason. (MCL 333.2813(2)(c) and MCL 551.102)
  5. 16 and 17 year olds are required to have consent of parent/guardian. Parent/guardian must be present with valid government ID and sign consent form.

 Pick up hours:  Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

After the 3-day waiting period, bring in the following items:

  1. Birth Certificates for both applicants (not hospital certificate). Birth certificates in a foreign language must be translated into English.
  2. Current driver's license
  3. Social Security Numbers for both applicants (card not required, SS# only)
  4. $20 license fee for Michigan residents/$30 for non-residents (Cash, Check or Money Order Accepted) 
  5. Arrive in office no later than 4:30 p.m. to complete process.
  6. If only one applicant comes into the County Clerk's Office, then they must provide all required items listed above.
**Your license can be picked up on the day listed below or any day after. Licenses must be picked up prior to your wedding date.
