Maple River State Game Area | Located 8 miles north of St. Johns on U.S. 127. A "People Platform" on the west side of U.S. 127 permits viewing of the diverse mixture of wildlife that make their home in the fields, forest, river and wetlands which comprise the area. |

This 3,574-acre state wildlife research station includes farmland, woods and marshes divided into 7 color-designated areas for research purposes. Special features include wildlife management of ponds, flooding, brush piles, food patches, tree/shrub plantings, soil conservation practices, wildlife research, pathology laboratory and rifle and skeet ranges. The station is available as a biological study area for universities and high schools. |

For winter fun, ice rinks with warming house as well as a sledding hill. The main park also has 2 picnic pavilions that may be reserved for reunions and parties. |
